She emphasizes that AI art generators consume enormous amounts of natural resources, contributing to environmental degradation.

Intellectual Property and the Future of Art

There is growing concern about copyright. When AI creates a piece of art, it doesn’t generate content from nothing. Instead, a dataset is needed for its production. Many of these datasets include copyrighted images collected without the intellectual property owners’ consent.

Sofia explains that she responsibly creates her own datasets, using public domain data or her own creations, thus respecting copyright and privacy.

The Ethical and Environmental Debate

The environmental impact of AI data centers is significant, with energy consumption that can exceed that of entire countries. The discussion about AI sustainability in art gains momentum, especially when considering water use and global warming.
